Today our lake served as a rest stop for birds heading south for the winter.

I went down to the lakeshore to investigate the honking noises made by these birds.
After a few minutes their honking became more insistent and the group took off.
At first, they headed east.
They turned back to the southwest, approaching where I stood.
They flew nearly overhead, I think they were Canadian geese, but were too far for me to be sure.
